Biography

Benjamin Franklin Kelly was a prominent Union general who played a significant role in the Western Virginia campaigns during the American Civil War. Known for his aggressive tactics and determination, Kelly commanded forces in the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding regions. He was instrumental in securing Union control of strategic mountain passes and rail routes, making him one of the more effective commanders in the Western Theater.
