Biography
Hannibal Hamlin was a prominent American politician who served as Vice President of the United States under Abraham Lincoln from 1861 to 1865. Before his vice presidency, he had established himself as a Republican leader and abolitionist, serving in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate from Maine. After leaving office, Hamlin remained active in politics and public service, serving as Minister to Spain and returning to the Senate in his later years.
