Biography

John White Geary was a prominent Union general and politician who served with distinction during the Civil War. He commanded the Second Division of the Twelfth Corps and participated in major battles including Gettysburg and Chickamauga. After the war, Geary served as a Reconstruction governor of Georgia and later as a U.S. Senator, playing a significant role in post-war politics.
