Biography
John Brooks Henderson was an American politician and lawyer who served as a United States Senator from Missouri during the Reconstruction era. Born in Kentucky, Henderson moved to Missouri where he established a successful legal practice and became involved in state politics. He was elected to the Senate in 1862 and served until 1869, where he was known for his moderate positions on Reconstruction policy and his support for the Thirteenth Amendment abolishing slavery.
