Biography
John Van Buren (1810-1866) was an American lawyer and politician, son of President Martin Van Buren. He practiced law in New York and served in various political capacities, including as Attorney General of New York. Van Buren was known for his involvement in Democratic politics during the antebellum period and his support for the Free Soil movement, which opposed the expansion of slavery.
