Judson Kilpatrick

Judson Kilpatrick was a Union cavalry general known for his aggressive tactics and controversial leadership during the American Civil War. A West Point graduate, Kilpatrick commanded cavalry divisions in major campaigns including those under Sherman and Grant, earning both praise for his boldness and criticism for his recklessness. After the war, he served as a diplomat and continued his military career, eventually rising to the rank of major general and serving as Minister to Chile.
