Biography
Nathan Clifford was an influential American jurist who served as an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court from 1858 until his death in 1881. A native of New Hampshire, Clifford built his legal career in Maine, where he practiced law and served in various political offices before his appointment to the nation's highest court.
