Richard March Hoe was a pioneering American inventor and manufacturer who fundamentally transformed the printing industry through his development of the rotary printing press. Building on his family's printing equipment business, Hoe patented and refined the rotary press design, which dramatically increased printing speed and efficiency compared to earlier flat-bed presses. His innovations became standard in newspaper and commercial printing operations throughout the 19th century, making him one of the most influential figures in printing technology.
