Biography
General William Babcock Hazen (1823-1887) was a prominent Union Army officer who served with distinction throughout the American Civil War and the subsequent Indian Wars. He participated in major campaigns including Sherman's March to the Sea and held various command positions in the Western Theater. After the war, Hazen remained active in military affairs and served in administrative capacities, becoming a respected figure in post-war military circles and contributing to the development of military policy during Reconstruction.
