Biography
William Starke Rosecrans was a Union general and prominent military commander during the American Civil War, best known for his leadership at the Battle of Stones River and the Chickamauga Campaign. A skilled strategist and engineer, he commanded the Army of the Cumberland and earned respect for his tactical innovations. After the war, Rosecrans served as a diplomat and congressman, remaining active in public service until his death.
