Alexander Hays

Alexander Hays was a Union general during the American Civil War, known for his aggressive tactics and leadership of infantry divisions in the Western Theater. He served with distinction under General Ulysses S. Grant and participated in several major campaigns including the Vicksburg Campaign and the Battle of Chickamauga. Hays was promoted to major general in 1864 and continued to lead troops through the final campaigns of the war.
