Eleazar Williams

Biography

Reverend Eleazar Williams was a Native American missionary and religious leader of mixed Mohawk and European descent who served among the Oneida Nation and other Haudenosaunee peoples. He was educated at missionary schools and became an ordained minister, working to spread Christianity among Native American communities in New York and Wisconsin. Williams was also known for his involvement in land disputes and his controversial claims regarding his ancestry, which generated significant historical debate.
